While the MALIBU is directly on the beach trolley line, it is only a short walk to convenience stores, Redington Long Fishing Pier, beauty salons, gift shops, family and fine dining restaurants, and cocktail lounges.
Across the Street - Gulf Beaches; Broad white sandy beaches and a gentle Gulf surf with an average water temperature of 78*F and an incredible 98% chance of sunshine. With a gentle surf similar to that of a large lake, the Gulf is a terrific venue to let the children play without fear of rough waves knocking them down. - Redington Plaza; with post office, gift shops, beauty salon and barber shop, liquor store and lounge with darts and pool tables, and a hardware store with bike rentals. A glimpse of this Plaza can be seen in the background of the restaurant photo of the "POOCH PORCH PATIO" - Intercoastal waterway; a fisherman's and boaters delight with well protected waters is just one short block to the east of the MALIBU.

The Pier is a short four blocks from the Malibu Resort where many sport fishman choose to stay. - Deep sea fishing and sightseeing excursion boats. For the weak of stomach we strongly recommend the purchase and use of "ginger pills" at a local drug store, considered by many to be the best defense against sea sickness. - West Coast Seabird Sanctuary. A major facility for the care and treatment of local sea birds. Donation accepted. SHORT DRIVE or TROLLEY RIDE - Professional Sports; Baseball (Tampa Bay Devil Rays), football (Tampa Bay Bucaneers) , and hockey ( Tampa Bay Lightning) teams, as well as numerous spring and fall training camps. - Casino gaming cruises; With daytime and evening departures, guests of the MALIBU or often offered complimentary tickets for these cruises. (In the past our former managers and guest have won thousand of dollars on these cruises) - Seminole Hardrock Gambling Casino; Las Vegas style Casino gambling located in Tampa on the Seminole Indian reservation. Bus trips are often available and recommended to save you from driving. - Derby Lane Dog Track and Paramutual betting; A memorable evening offering a terrific value and exciting atmosphere for visiting with or making some new friends. A trip worth taking. - John's Pass Village; A water front grouping of quaint shops, eateries, departure point for casino cruise ships and numerous nite spots; features a broad boardwalk paralleling John's Pass waterway which connects Boca Ciega bay to the Gulf of Mexico. Easily accessed by use of the Beach Trolley stopping in front of the MALIBU. - Heritage Park; Located in Largo, it offers an interesting study of the area's history with original older style Florida "Cracker" homes, a sugar cane mill, service station, musemum and much more.
